im still here, sorry bout that...
ill be posting new stuff soon, i promise, just got a little side tracked with re doing my art portfolio this past week.
the book is pretty much done, and im going to grey scale it up for the first cbr post. after i post that, im going to have a special edition version for download at a hopping $2!
then if i can find a printer in my price range, ill be doing a small SE print run for sale with personalized art for the buyer :)

SOME NEWS AND PG 11 INKS

i have decided to hold off on printing the book for the sandy con this year.

bummer i know, but i think it will benifit from being printed in color rather than flat black and whites. i would have drawn it in a completly differant manner if that was the plan, so im sticking to coloring this one shot while i start the real series!
so dont fret, anyone out there who cares. the book will still be printed and for sale as a hard copy, you'll just have to make due with the cbr file for a bit longer is all :)

in other news, a good friend of mine has made the DRH mast head into an animated gif that im looking forward to posting soon (im too retarded to figure out how to post it myself at the moment, ill get to it tonight) so keep an eye out for that!

fair warning if this post makes no sense, cause my brain is FRIED!
i just did all the pencils for pages 6 - 13 this after noon.
i finaly got a day off from my night job. (were i write the script for the series mind you)
so i decided to sit down and have the fuck at it.

figured i might as well ink pg 13 while i had the groove.
cant wait to finish this book up so i can start the real series!!

ive written 24 - 21 page issues so far. so thats about 500 pages :)
so far i have 4 graphic novels ready to go.
3 months of solitude actually turned out to be good for me! ahahahah

PG 5 WIP

holy hell, did you know faith no more got back together?
you tube has eaten my bandwidth to a nub tonight...
anyways,
ive finished the story arc for the first series.
its going to be 6 - 20 page issues now.
im actually very happy with the direction the series is taking now that im home from perth.
my minds alot clearer these days and the story is just falling into place every time i sit down to write.
theres something about a town that closes at 3pm that just agravates the hell of yah i guess.
meh, back to work.

prob add some textures to page 5, dunno.
6 will be done tomorrow, i finished the final draft of the first book tonight, whittled it down to 21 pages. ill start the minute i finish this one shot.
as i stated way back, im going to start up a store / donate page soon. im going to do a limited series of posters of each character too. prob have it up and running by the end of the week.

COLOR TEST

i REFUSE to post the rest of this picture, as it is the single worst thing i have ever drawn ever.
but i figured i should post some of it as i am trying a new color technique.

the idea is to do a low detail watercolor painting for each pic instead of a diluted ink wash.
this was my first test tonight.

im going to have another go tomorrow and post the whole pic.
as i was just dicking around, the drawing just looks like a spazzy cousin it.

so just look at the color textures at the bottem.
ooooh.
i think i may reserve it for special pages / panels ala sam kieth.
not sure yet...

PG 2 HALF ASSED STEP BY STEP

im hoping at some point to post a video of how i do a page, but for now, heres a kind of step by step.
first is pencils (after about 12 thumbnails) then inks, then i do a layer of textures, which is a wash of diluted inks i do over a light table with a print out of my inks. that way i can add it in as a layer in photoshop and give the page some extra kick. then its off to color on the cintiq.
i think ill post a more in depth step by step with page 5... anyways. heres the finished version of page 2 \m/

PG 4 PROGRESS

"got the number thirteen, tattooed on my neck, when the ink starts to itch, black gone turn to red..."


with this page, i just up and penciled on cintiq.
printed it off and used the light table to ink. then modified my fuck ups on the cintiq again.
its 'mixed media' (thats art wanker for more than one style).
i love digital, its so easy (ctrl z). but i love me my inks.
iiiiiiiiiink. (zombie shuffle.)

all in all, this took me about 5 hours, so i think a page a day should be plauseable at this point.
im haveing such a fucking blast doing my own book! i never really have been one for rules, so being set free to do whatever the fuck i want is kind of liberating, i tell yah...
on the down side, dont think ill have it ready for the sandy con, but, hell, when im done, ill be posting a cbr torrent anyways, so what do you care ;)
ill do a small print run with extras, signed etc and sold on this site sooner or later none the less.
but for now, enjoy, and i hope you dig it so far! \m/

hey all.
just wanted to let you know ill have a 20 page 1 shot. one off story for devil's right hand done before the end of june.

the kind people at gestalt have asked me to pull a book out of my ass for the up coming san diego comic con.
the conversation went something like this:

"can you do 20 pages before the end of june?"
"uh... no."
"we can have it printed and whored at the sandy con."
"ill be done by friday."

so yeah. keep an eye on the blog cause ill post it up page by page. and hopefully be able to sell some advanced super special signed/drawn in issues through this sight when im done :)

BOOK START DATE FOR MID JUNE

hello all, sorry i havent posted yet. im just busy wrapping up my teaching this semester. after this its back to the working at the porn store and starting up the art for this series. (im alot more excited about this than you would think.)

so, just to keep any one who cares up to date:

- the story outline is finished, begining to end, for the first series.
- the first 40 pages are written and plotted out in thumbnails.
- references for the entire cast have all been chosen.
- the first scene is ready to go the second i get home.

so some time around mid june i should start posting pages for the book. then when the first scene is finished, ill be posting it as a cbr file available for download as a torrent.
in the mean time, keep an eye out, ill be posting a couple of pin ups of mason ive been thinking about. something to get me in the swing of things, you know.

THE INTRO

ive been dicking around with the idea of a post apocalyptic western since i was 15.
it was only a matter of time until i got the guts to do it i guess.

ive had friends nagging me for years to write my own book instead of trying to find the 'perfect story' to suit me. (im very picky who i draw for, i like to think of the writters i work with as extensions of myself.)

so after fight club fell through (its still waiting on a green light, dont worry.) i decided to give it a shot. i mean, look at some of the books out there right now. mine cant be THAT bad in compairason...

anyways, ive found a way to justify my actions by remembering the inspiration i had for this series in the first place.

the movies and books that inspired my love of this sub genre are sometimes rediculious at best. so i guess i might as well throw another drop into the see that is "post apocalytic action"
and with the great western formula of good guy vs bad, you really cant go wrong can you?

melty faced mutants.
martial law.
demolished cities.
acid rain.
bad guy come good, good guy gone bad.
tits.
blood.
gore.
skull fucking.

i think i got the gyst of my genre.
lets just see if i can pull it off huh?
